Israel Deploys Seawater Pumps to Counter Hamas Tunnel Network Threat
Israel has reportedly deployed seawater pumps to counter the threat posed by Hamas tunnels in the Gaza Strip. The country is said to have informed the United States of this option in early November and discussions were held to weigh the feasibility and environmental impact of using seawater against the military value of destroying the tunnels.
According to the Israeli army, over 800 tunnel shafts have been discovered since the beginning of the Gaza war. Out of these, approximately 500 have already been destroyed. Some of these tunnel shafts were connected to strategic Hamas facilities underground. The destruction of these underground tunnel routes has significantly impacted Hamas’s capabilities.
